Some amazing photos and great co-operation between you have have resulted in a multitude of triangles being created.
I also now have two versions of the pattern instructions to keep things simple, if you are looking for the US version click here!
There is a video demonstrating the Top Down Rope Join which you can see below:
Gather your triangles into their colour groups, which if you are following the pattern is:
- Violet (or Heather) – 1 triangle
- Indigo – 5 triangles
- Storm – 9 triangles
- Teal – 13 triangles
- Old Gold – 17 triangles
- Coral – 18 triangles
- Cherry – 15 triangles
- Raspberry – 11 triangles
- Plum – 7 triangles
- Heather – 3 triangles
To be clear this is the order from top right to bottom left of the blanket, for those clamouring to know. Hopefully this will help you choose alternate colourways.
Be mindful when you are joining the strips of colour that you arrange the triangles correctly. See the image below. The orientation of individual triangles does not matter as they have equal sides, however the arrangement when joined does matter.
How to Complete the Top Down Rope Join
Place two triangles next to each other. You will be working right to left to make the join so keep this in mind when moving down the strips as you will need to turn everything about as you add the next triangle to the strip.
- Join your yarn to the first triangle , the one in front, with a slip stitch
- Work a double crochet
- Moving to the matching stitch on the second triangle insert your hook from the TOP down through the back triangle and work a single slip stitch.
This will join the triangles, if you let go the triangles will spin. Take time to re-arrange correctly if this does happen.
- Move back to the front triangle and work a double crochet
- Slip stitch from the top down through the back triangle
- Repeat until you reach the end of the single side and add the next triangle.
You will be zig zagging your way down the strips before you know it.
For beginners, I know this sounds complicated – Its not.
Watch the video demo and practice. I will be around to answer any questions and can run through the process in a live session in the facebook group if needed.
Oh yes I did mention goodies to giveaway in the newsletter didn’t I?
