Loving those Triangles – US Terms

Welcome to Week1 of the Trigonus CAL, hopefully by the end of this section you will still be loving those triangles.

This week you will be creating 99 of these angular beauties!

If you still need a Yarn Pack the official one is available here…

https://www.loremar.co.uk/colourpacks/fiery-phoenix-trigonus-cal-colour-pack

The triangles themselves are a fun fast shape which are created entirely with double crochet (single crochet in the US) stitches.

I have listed the numbers required for each of the colours from the Loremar Colour Pack, there is a slight adjustment if you are using your leftovers or stash.

I just couldn’t bring myself to say you ‘needed’ to buy a violet ball of yarn for just one triangle!

Colour/Number of triangles needed

  • Violet – if you are using it 1 triangle
  • Heather – 3 triangles (4 if not using Violet)
  • Indigo – 5 triangles
  • Plum – 7 triangles
  • Storm – 9 triangles
  • Raspberry – 11 triangles
  • Teal – 13 triangles
  • Cherry – 15 triangles
  • Old Gold – 17 triangles
  • Coral – 18 triangles

Now on to the instructions to create the Trigonus Triangle – US Terms:

R1: chain3

R2: sc x 3 into the fist chain space (3 st)

R3: ch1, turn, sc in each st (3 st)

R4: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in next st, sc x2 in final st (5 st)

R5: ch1, turn, sc in each st (5 st)

R6: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in each st until last, sc x2 in final st (7 st)

R7: ch1, turn, sc in each st (7 st)

R8: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in each st until last, sc x 2 in final st (9 st)

R9: ch1, turn, sc in each st (9 st)

R10: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in each st until last, sc x2 in final st (11 st)

R11: ch1, turn, sc in each st (11 st)

R12: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in each st until last, sc x2 in final st (13 st)

R13: ch1, turn, sc in each st (13 st)

R14: ch1, turn, sc x 2 in first st, sc in each st until last, sc x2 in final st (15 st)

R15: ch1, turn, sc in each st (15 st)

R16: ch1, sc in the corner stitch, ch2, sc in each st (15) to the next corner, turn work, ch2, continue with sc in each stitch (15), to the next corner, ch2, c in each stitch until back to the start of this round, slip stitch to the first st and tie off.

We will be finishing off each triangle with an edging in sc, with a sc, ch2, sc in each corner. So each edge should be 15sc with a ch2 in each of the three corners. This means the triangles will be prepared ready to join into strips next week.

Ask any questions in the Yarn Jugglers facebook group and remember to share your WIP photos with the #TrigonusCAL for a change to win a fab prize and to get your free copy of the complete Trigonus pattern at the end of the CAL.

See you soon,
